These terms denote an opening or split in the upper lip or on the roof of the mouth or both of the above. Sometimes, a Cleft Lip may just be a little notch in the lip, creating a minor cosmetic deformity. At the other end of the spectrum, both the lip and the palate (roof of the mouth) can have a gap, which makes feeding difficult and results in a major deformity. A common congenital condition, it occurs when the lip-forming tissues do not join or develop entirely, before birth.

Procedure

This procedure is usually recommended at 3 to 4 months of life, though, it can be carried out at any stage in a patient’s life. It involves the rearrangement of tissues surrounding the cleft region in order to fill up the opening by stitching it up.

Results

Usually detected post-birth, it can be rectified almost perfectly with minimal scarring and restore normal functioning in the concerned region. Parents of children affected by this condition are completely at ease once they know it has been treated. Adults undergoing this procedure are also extremely satisfied with their results.

Eterna offers affordable, competitive packages for treatment.
